We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Payroll Projects Officer on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage your expertise in leave management and system optimisation to make a tangible impact on the payroll function.
About the Role:
Reporting to the HR Director and Payroll Manager, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of our payroll processes, with a specific focus on complex leave entitlements. This hands-on project role requires a deep understanding of payroll legislation and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
... - Leave Expertise: Conduct comprehensive reconciliations and recalculations of various leave types, with a particular emphasis on long service leave.
- Legislative Compliance: Review current leave processes and calculations, making necessary adjustments and providing recommendations to ensure full compliance with relevant leave legislation.
- System Health Check (iChris): Perform a thorough review and 'health check' of iChris payroll system to identify any inefficiencies, data integrity issues, or areas for optimisation, ensuring it operates effectively.
- Process Improvement: Critically review existing payroll workflows and processes, identifying opportunities for streamlining, automation, and enhanced accuracy. Provide well-researated suggestions and assist in their implementation.
- Documentation & Training: Contribute to updating payroll documentation and potentially assist with training related to new processes or system functionalities.
What You'll Bring:
- Proven experience in a dedicated payroll role with a strong focus on leave management and reconciliations.
- Essential: In-depth understanding of Australian leave legislation (including but not limited to Annual Leave, Personal/Carer's Leave, and particularly Long Service Leave).
- Essential: Demonstrated comfort and proficiency with manual leave calculations.
- Experience with the iChris payroll system is highly regarded.
- A strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to review and critically assess existing processes and propose effective improvements.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with internal teams and presenting recommendations.
- Ability to work independently and manage project deliverables within a fixed timeframe.
